Tamilnadu Water Supply Drainage Board Jobs for Urgent For Assistant Engineer in Chennai

TWAD Board Activities are guided and monitored by the Board of Directors of Senior Level Administrators and Engineers of Government of Tamilnadu.

The Engineering Director in the cadre of Chief Engineer monitors the Engineering Wing. The Finance Director monitors the Accounts Wing. The Secretary cum General Manager looks after the administrative function.

There are four Chief Engineers head quartered at Vellore, Thanjavur, Coimbatore and Madurai, and one Project Chief Engineer at Dharmapuri for Hogenakkal Water Supply and Flourosis Mitigation Project (HWS & FMP). There is also one Director, Communication and Capacity Development Unit. (CCDU) in the cadre of Chief Engineer head quartered at Chennai. 17 circle offices headed by Superintending Engineers, 93 Divisional offices headed by Executive Engineers and 313 Sub Division Offices headed by Assistant Executive Engineers are functioning in the districts. There are four training centres each located at Chennai, Trichy, Madurai and Coimbatore for imparting training to the employees of TWAD Board and public. TWAD Board is also paying pension to 6051 retired staffs.

At present TWAD Board is maintaining 538 Combined Water Supply Schemes involving 6 Corporations, 58 Municipalities, 288 Town Panchayats, 28156 Rural habitations and 406 Industries/Institutions and 3 Government owned water supply projects.

Supply of Safe and potable water to the public is ensured by the quality through 83 laboratory services throughout the state. The ISO 9001 certifies the TWAD Board State Level Water Testing Laboratory at Chepauk, Chennai and this laboratory has been now recognized as the Referral Laboratory for Tamilnadu state by Government of India.

The Hydrogeology wing of TWAD Board is vested with the responsibility of scientific source identification works in the field of exploration, exploitation and assessment of water sources. It is also committed to ensure conservation and management of the water resources for the sustainability of sources to provide protected and potable water supply to the rural and urban population.

The Hydrogeology wing adopts the Scientific Source Finding activity by way of conducting Receptivity survey to delineate potential zones for ground water exploitation. As part of this activity, Remote Sensing and GIS techniques have been deployed for site selection. A number of projects from State Planning Commission, Unicef and Government of India have been taken up by the Hydrogeology wing for various R&D activities connected to Ground Water exploration and recharge.

The EDP Unit is implementing Information Technology based applications in TWAD Board. Online integrated egovernance systems are developed with MIS and implemented in phased manners for eTender, Project Management, Human Resource Management, Financial Accounting etc. TWAD Board websites and RWH Website are hosted for dissemination of information to the public.

All the offices of TWAD Board upto Divisions are connected with Tamilnadu State Wide Area Network. Also Broad band facilitate are made available in all offices including Water Quality Laboratory. Voice over IP Phone is installed in all offices upto Divisions.
